Sport is an integral part of everyday life in Northern Vaud. What if your adventure in the region was above all a sporting one?
With two trails in May, the Jura Swiss Trail (May 3) and the Trail de la Dent de Vaulion (May 17), the region unveils its exceptional natural landscapes. Right in the heart of the Jura mountain range, the Nord Vaudois region boasts vast spruce forests and flower-filled pastures typical of the Jura, offering a true interlude when walking or doing sport. During the Jura Swiss Trail, various peaks in the region will be revealed: Le Suchet, les Aiguilles de Baulmes, Le Cochet and Le Chasseron, the region’s highest peak.
On June 13 & 14, Sainte-Croix turns into a village of Spartans to welcome the SPARTAN RACE. An international event, this obstacle course invites participants to surpass their limits and experience an exceptional moment on the Balcon du Jura.
Last but not least, the diversity of the landscapes of the Nord-Vaud region invites you to discover nature on a hike or bike ride. Between lakes, vineyards, plains and mountains, you’ll discover many incredible places. What’s more, for epicureans, the alpine chalets open from mid-April to add a gourmet touch to your outing.
If you’d like to combine gourmet pleasure with sport, the Côtes de l’Orbe Half-Marathon is for you! With different distances and formulas on offer, this popular event lets you discover the winemakers and producers of the Côtes de l’Orbe region while running or strolling through the vineyards.

Through its artisans, Northern Vaud is a culinary adventure in many ways.
The cheeses produced in the various cheese dairies on the plains and in the mountains offer a wide variety. In addition to the famous Gruyère and Vacherin-Mont-d’Or PDO cheeses, there are many other specialities to be found in every corner of the region. Vallgrotte, for example, is a cheese matured in the Vallorbe caves.
The regional vineyards of AOC Côtes de l’Orbe and Bonvillars offer a mosaic of small cellars to discover. Behind these modestly sized appellations lie great wines, which regularly win awards at wine competitions.
Northern Vaud, Orbe to be precise, is the birthplace of IGP cabbage sausage. Legend has it that it was created here. An annual weekend festival is held in September.
It’s worth highlighting the quality of the regional artisans and their recipes. TheAmandine de Sainte-Croix comes to mind. This small almond-based dessert has been produced for over 60 years by Boulangerie La Gourmandine.
