Léopold, head waiter at the Auberge du Cheval Blanc, is madly in love with his boss, Josefa. But she constantly rebuffs him, having eyes only for one of her loyal customers, the lawyer Guy Florès. When the Marseillais Napoléon Bistagne arrives at the inn, accompanied by his daughter Sylvabelle, Léopold immediately takes a liking to him… Many misunderstandings ensue.
