Northern Vaud, a corner of Switzerland full of charm and history, is brimming with hidden treasures just waiting to be discovered. Thanks to the Secrets of Northern Vaud project, set off on an adventure and unveil the region’s anecdotes and heritage, with the invaluable help of its inhabitants.
Imagine strolling through a picturesque village and, at the bend in the road, coming across a connected medal. A simple scan with your smartphone reveals a story: a significant event, a local legend or a place steeped in memory. More than just a stroll, it’s a plunge into the past, a journey through the stories that have shaped Northern Vaud.
Two routes are already in place: in Vuitebœuf and Cuarny.
In Vuitebœuf, 21 medals mark out the village and tell its story. The project was launched to mark the commune’s 1000th anniversary in 2024, and now enables everyone to gain a better understanding of its rich past as they stroll through this small village at the foot of the Jura mountains.

Cuarny, a village of just over 240 souls, is home to 13 medallions that enhance a lovely walk through the village’s history. Designed as part of the village’s 850th anniversary celebrations, the route takes in Montélaz, where a magnificent view of Yverdon-les-Bains and the surrounding region awaits you.
Explore
Sainte-Croix, the world’s birthplace of music boxes and automata, offers a tour featuring 18 medals. The itinerary invites you to discover the village’s industrial past, which continues to this day.

The concept is currently being developed, and will eventually provide a network of routes to be explored at your whim. A great opportunity to rediscover the region in a different way, far from the usual routes, by following the clues left by those who know it best: its inhabitants.
