A demanding sport, ski touring is very popular among athletes who want to challenge themselves, while combining their physical efforts with the beauty of snow-covered nature. The Jura vaudois is a splendid and inspiring setting to learn this sport.
The Sainte-Croix / Les Rasses region offers 3 ski touring trails in partnership with Touring Tracks by Movement with routes ranging from 1,5 to 2 hours and an average altitude difference of 450 m. The starting points of the trails are the Champs de la Joux sports center in Sainte-Croix, Les Replans and Les Rasses. Car parks are available near each starting point. An information board in Les Rasses provides all the practical information.
When climbing the Petites Roches or the Chasseron, hikers can admire the magnificent view over the plain and an Alpine panorama of more than 250 km. Along the trails, the alpine chalets and panoramic terraces allow hikers to taste local products and regain their strength before safely descending the slopes of the ski area (from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
Outside opening hours, presence of snow groomers and winches on the slopes. Danger to life.
The list of “mountain guides” who offer cross-country skiing lessons in the canton of Vaud is available here: http://www.argm.ch/membres/.
