Overlooking Lake Neuchâtel, Grandson Castle is a medieval fortress with a thousand years of history, which found itself at the heart of European history during the Burgundy Wars between Charles the Bold and the Confederates.
Built between the 11th and 13th centuries, Grandson Castle played a central role in the Burgundy Wars and the Battle of Grandson (1476). Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, was defeated by the Confederates and left behind a prestigious booty, including numerous pieces of artillery.
Currently undergoing renovation, the Château de Grandson – a site of national importance – will house a new museum in 2026. The inauguration will coincide with the commemoration of the 550th anniversary of the Battle of Grandson. During this transitional period, the monument can still be visited and is open to the public.
For the duration of the works, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the construction site during a guided tour. For 45 minutes, a guide will take you on a guided tour of Grandson Castle and reveal the secrets of this exceptional heritage restoration project. It’s a unique opportunity to see the castle in a whole new light!
