Founded in 1960 in Lausanne, the Boxer brewery began production in 1962 in Romanel-sur-Lausanne. Its name and emblem are dedicated to the founder’s dog. He wanted to transpose into the philosophy of his new company the qualities of loyalty, fidelity, defence of freedom and tenacity that he recognised in his dog.
In 2018, Bière du Boxer SA merged with Doppelleu Brauwerkstatt in Winterthur (twinned with Yverdon-les-Bains). In 2023, the company was rebranded as Chopfab Boxer AG.
The Boxer brand is produced at the Yverdon-les-Bains site. The range includes classic beers as well as seasonal and limited-edition specialities. These include
– Boxer Old (Swiss Lager)
– Boxer Blonde (unfiltered)
– Boxer Blanche (Witbier)
– Boxer Brunette (Bavarian Dark)
– Boxer Pale Ale (Amber Pale Ale)
– Boxer Hiver (seasonal speciality)
– Boxer Sans Alcool (Swiss Lager, alcohol-free)
For groups, the brewery can be visited by prior arrangement, from October to April, Monday to Thursday, 1pm to 5pm.
The visit includes a tasting of special beers, snacks and a gift for CHF 30.- per person.
