The kestrel is once again a common sight in our countryside. This is heartening.

In the 1980s, its numbers were at an all-time low: just 11 pairs were nesting in the Broye region. Thanks to the installation of hundreds of nesting boxes by ornithologists and the involvement of local farmers, the population in this region now exceeds 300 pairs.

In collaboration with the ornithologist Jacques Jeanmonod, the photographer Benoît RENEVEY illustrated a book entitled ‘Le faucon de l’espoir’ (The Falcon of Hope), published by Salamandre in 2022.

Today, he highlights the beauty and richness of the traditional agricultural landscape and the success of this small bird of prey in a cheerful and colourful exhibition.
