François Portmann, a photographer and native of the Biel region, has been based in New York for 40 years. An unexpected encounter with a red-tailed hawk in Manhattan sparked his fascination with nature, particularly birds. Since then, travelling between New York, Switzerland and elsewhere, he has been capturing wildlife, particularly in urban environments, revealing astonishing scenes and the remarkable adaptability of many species.
