In these times of ecological crisis, farmers are getting a bad press. The gulf is widening between them, who are accused of poisoning the land, and an urban population that aspires to a different relationship with nature but can’t tell an ear of barley from an ear of wheat.
When Blaise Hofmann, the son and grandson of farmers, returned to live in the countryside, he witnessed these tensions at first hand. Having travelled the world, he sets out to meet the men and women who, close to him, still practise the โoldest profession in the worldโ, which is โalso the most essentialโ.
With humour and tenderness, buoyed by a growing sense of indignation, he takes the route of field reporting and a more intimate reflection!
