On 14 December 1963, a group of music-loving friends from the region organised their first classical concert in the abbey church of Romainmôtier. This was the start of what was to become the “Concerts de Romainmotier”.
Over the years, the concert season has expanded throughout the year, and has become known far and wide thanks to a programme of sacred music performed by renowned artists and ensembles in a dream setting. Not only is Romainmôtier a Cluniac site that has retained all the charm and mystery of medieval villages, but the abbey church, with its thousand-year-old vaults, offers exceptional acoustic conditions, particularly for choral music and organ music, which are given pride of place in the programme.
