Venice, 1638. Monteverdi published his eighth book of madrigals and changed the course of musical history. By placing the emotions of the text at the heart of his compositions, he redefined the art of singing through music that was intense, unique and daring. Breaking with established conventions, he explores human passions with innovative harmonies โChiaroscuro d’Amoreโ propels listeners into the mysteries of love, its suffering, its joys, its doubts, its violence, its voluptuousness, in striking contrasts that oppose and unite, through Monteverdi’s masterful music. This concert takes us on an intense journey, where the light and shadows of love intertwine.
