Summer's Fleeting Hotspots

Refreshment stands, entertainment, themed workshops, or food trucks—does that ring a bell? If we say “ginguette,” do you immediately think of the shores of Lake Geneva? Not at all 😉

In Yverdon-les-Bains, there’s plenty going on—whether in the city center, in the Casino gardens (Benno Besson Theater) or on Place Pestalozzi, or along the lakefront. All three locations offer entertainment, concerts, and activities suitable for all ages.

And if we had to recommend one last spot, it would be the bar at Y-Plage. With your feet in the sand and under the shade of the umbrellas, you can enjoy a drink or an ice cream there, just a stone’s throw from the lake.

The Casino Gardens

June 3 through August 30, 2026

The Derivative

June 5 through August 15, 2026

Viva Pesta!

June 25 through August 13, 2026

Are there any other open-air cafés worth visiting?

Of course!

In Grandson, the event takes place in the park next to the Restaurant des Quais. The event Au Lac offers a rich program, (almost) right on the water.

On the Place du Marché in Orbe, five free evening events are scheduled. Every Friday evening, a local artist or band will take the stage, with refreshments and food available on site. The concerts will take place on July 24 and August 7, 14, 21, and 28.

Just a stone’s throw from the Sainte-Croix train station, in the park of the same name, is the Rupicapra Festival brings the Balcon du Jura to life. Open-air movies, themed evenings, and other activities organized by partners will take place from June 11 to August 8, 2026.

And what about following the World Cup?

The locations listed above are also, for the most part, venues where World Cup matches are broadcast.

In the Grandson area, come join us At the Lake. A giant screen, lounge chairs, and a refreshment stand—all just a stone’s throw from the lake.

In Orbe, nearly 40 games—including all of Switzerland’s matches—are broadcast at the Cantine du Puisoir. Food stands and a bar will also be available.

On the Balcon du Jura, the Rupicapra Festival is hosting a fan zone in the park near the train station in Sainte-Croix. Switzerland’s matches, the semifinals, and the final will be broadcast there.

In Yvonand, the lawn in front of City Hall becomes the place to watch the games, in a friendly atmosphere.

In the spa town, there are several options available to you:

  • The fan zone at the ice rink, where you can also take part in a Boxer Race
  • The fan zone at EXPLORiT
  • Open Set, the pop-up spot at the La Prairie hotel
  • Finally, many bars in the city also show the games
