Unique activities

Among the leading attractions in Northern Vaud, we thought it only logical to mention a few of our own: the Bonvillars educational truffle farm and the Vallorbe caves.

  • Truffière didactique de Bonvillars: Switzerland’s first educational truffle farm, it reveals the secrets of truffles, from cultivation to tasting.
  • Vallorbe caves: Switzerland’s largest group of caves, they fascinate with their spectacular formations of stalactites, stalagmites and limestone columns.

And yes! Unusual as it may seem, our region has a favorable environment for truffles. So it was only fitting that the northern Vaud region should have Switzerland’s first educational truffle farm, in Bonvillars.

The Vallorbe Caves offer ideal temperatures all year round.

Discover an exceptional geological complex, with some of the most impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations in Europe.

The Orbe River will accompany you throughout your visit, sometimes calm, sometimes roaring, as it winds its way underground before gushing out of the rock. A natural spectacle of beauty and sound to enchant you!

Our top tip if you're staying in the region

For every stay in Northern Vaud from July1 to August 31, 2024, you’ll receive a guest card called the “Pèdze Card”. This guest discount card offers reductions of up to 50% on a dozen leisure activities in Northern Vaud.

The card is available at participating accommodations (hotels, campsites, B&Bs).

In addition to the Pèdze Card, visitors to the Nord Vaudois region can consult the Pèdze Pass website: the platform for good deals on leisure activities in the region.

Looking for other activities? Here are our recommendations for this summer:

  • Take advantage of the region’s sandy beaches, ideal for swimming, paddling or pedal-boating.
  • Take a hike along the Crêtes du Jura or along the
    Gorges de Covatannaz
    . Take a gourmet break in one of the 30 alpine chalets, to sample local produce.
  • Stroll through the historic streets of the pedestrianized city center of Yverdon-les-Bains. Various cafés and boutiques are well worth a visit, not forgetting the Place Pestalozzi and its castle, which are well worth a coffee break or aperitif at the end of the day.
