The Miracle Doctor

Georges Bizet was 18 when he wrote this pocket operetta in one act, with its infectious gaiety. The story takes place in 19th-century Padua: Silvio, a young officer madly in love with Laurette, the daughter of the Podestà, who forbids the two young people to see each other, poses as a fake miracle-working doctor so that he can serenade his sweetheart. Love intrigue, farce and disguises are on the menu, as is an incredible ‘omelette quartet’ with a parodic twist that will leave no one indifferent.
